Announcing

The Dallas/Fort Worth Joomla! User Group is a North Texas mentoring group whose members are helping each other learn to leverage the Joomla! content management system to make sophisticated websites for little investment. These are websites that are easy to maintain as well as easy to expand.

Our meetings tend to feature a workshop session addressing a few aspects of the system where we learn from each other how to build, improve, and maintain full-featured sites.

This presentation features real life examples of Joomla! sites, most of which are featured on community.joomla.org in the site showcase area. These site examples illustrate the versatility of Joomla and some of the many ways in which it can be used. Let these sites help fuel your imagination.

On June 23, Joomla User Group - Dallas / Fort Worth had a virtual meeting online to discuss backing up your Joomla! website.  Wilma Howell demonstrated backing up and restoring your Joomla website manually versus using the very popular Joomlapack component.

Many of our members have asked how to install Joomla on their local desktop or laptop.  In our April Virtual Meeting, Greg Wyman of EternalInteractive.com presented an overview of why and how you might want to do this and how to install the necessary applications on your local machine.  Those present enjoyed the value of Greg's expertise as a web developer and long-time user of Joomla and Mambo.
